Can you help us?

We are asking graphic designers to help us create the icons for Amar Kotha.

We need hundreds of icons for our users but with limited resources it will take us a very long time to create them all.

If you think you might be able to draw one or more icons for us click the link for more details.

Children using Amar Kotha v1

After making the first version of Amar Kotha we gave tablets to some students and their schools so that they could use the app. Tablets are hard to find and quite expensive in Bangladesh so this was not a sustainable solution.

Amar Kotha v2 will work on mobile phones meaning anyone who already has a device will be able to use the app. It will also be more portable and easier for adults and children to have a device on them at all times that will assist them with communication.

Previous Version of Amar Kotha

This is the second version of Amar Kotha. The first version was made 3 years ago but had several limitations. Firstly, it was designed to run on tablets. Tablets are quite hard to find in Bangladesh and in order for anyone to use the app, we found ourselves having to buy tablets for users which was not very sustainable. The new version is designed to work on low cost mobile phones that many people in Bangladesh already own.

Version 2 uses Google's Text to Speech engine, meaning people can add their own, custom items and have the item names spoken in Bangla. In version 1 users had to record their own voice in order to achieve this (voice recording is still an option in version 2 for those that want to use it)
